the Ficek Family “At Home”

Wonderful things happen when you follow your passion. When I was pregnant for the first time, I never realized that I would become such an advocate for women, mothers, and babies, for breastfeeding, birth, and respectful care. When I moved to Gainesville, I knew this was where I was going to be putting down roots and eventually building my business, so I started to get plugged in with the birth community. This is how I met my lovely friend Mary. She shares my passion and is a doula here in town. Any mother who has Mary at her birth should consider herself extremely lucky because Mary is one of the kindest, most patient, and most nurturing souls I know.

As it turns out, Mary and Geoff have two little girls, Smith & Hudson, who are very close in age to my boys. It has been a joy watching our kids play together and become friends, so my heart was full when Mary asked me to document her sweet family. Here are some frames from a morning at home with the Ficeks.
